Accounting Administrator

Blue Basin Group owns, manages, and develops high-quality commercial, and multi residential properties in the HRM and is part of an associated group of companies operating under one Owner. We are currently seeking an Accounting Administrator on a part- to full-time basis. Initial hours will be in the 16-20 hours/week. Reporting directly to the Owner, the Accounting Administrator will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting function for these companies as well as taking more on a more long range strategic role in helping to advise the Owner on various projects and operational directions.
Key Responsibilities:
Managing the accounting and finance function
Daily accounting using QuickBooks
Month end and interim reconciliations and reporting
Administrative tasks on behalf of the Owner
Managing the organizations’ tax liability
Reading, understanding and fulfilling requirements of various types of contracts pertaining to leases and construction
Liaising with consultants and project managers on behalf of the owner
Key Requirements:
3 years' experience as an Accounting Administrator responsible for all aspects of the daily running of an accounting office
Previous experience working in construction industry is an asset
Strong technical accounting skills
Strong computer skills including QuickBooks, Excel, Word, email and computer document management
Able to work collaboratively with online document management system
Proficient with both Mac and Windows systems
Self-driven, proactive problem solver who thrives in a deadline driven environment
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, as well as, on a team
Detail oriented individual with strong organizational skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Time management skills with ability to meet deadlines
